West, Texas fire chief will be honored at CTMC's 9-11 Memorial Luncheon

WEST, TEXAS FIRE CHIEF WILL BE HONORED AT CTMC’S ANNUAL 9-11 MEMORIAL LUNCHEON
SAN MARCOS, TX — When a disaster or a crisis strikes our country, there is no hesitation. First responders are there to help. These brave men and women risk their lives every day to save ours.
Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) will welcome City of West, Texas’ Fire Chief George Nors as the honorary guest for the annual 9-11 Memorial Luncheon. The event will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the San Marcos Activity Center, located at 501 E. Hopkins Street. The ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. Guest speakers include Mayor Daniel Guerrero, State Representative Jason Isaac, San Marcos Chief of Police Howard Williams and San Marcos Fire Chief Les Stephens.
Tragically on April 17, 2013, the fertilizer plant in West, Texas exploded killing 15 people and injuring 200. Twelve of those killed were first responders, making this the worst disaster for Texas firefighters in more than 60 years. Fire Chief George Nors sustained injuries requiring his son, Junior, to become the acting fire chief as his father recuperated. The plant explosion is still under investigation.
Lunch will be catered by Werner’s Catering and is available for a $10 donation. Roast beef, mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, green salad, rolls and dessert will be served. Open seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
A table sponsorship is available for $150 and includes a reserved table for eight guests and special recognition at your table. Donations will benefit the CTMC Family Grief Center located at 1313 IH 35 North in San Marcos. An RSVP is requested for those who would like to eat. About CTMC
The hospital, which originated in 1923 as Hays County Soldiers, Sailors and Marines Memorial Hospital, was restructured in 1960. The present facility was opened at its current Wonder World Drive location in 1983. The CTMC staff of more than 700 employees works with more than 220 active and consulting physicians to provide quality services to patients and their families.
