‘ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME’ JFK COLLECTION COMING TO SAN MARCOS
SAN MARCOS, TX – With the 50th anniversary of president John F. Kennedy’s assassination on the horizon, True Vineyard Ministries (TVM) and uber Kennedy collector Frank Harvey are teaming up to bring a rare collection to San Marcos that will give viewers a true taste of Camelot.
Remembering Camelot Through the Lens of Jacques Lowe – the Private Collection of Frank Harvey will provide three separate opportunities to catch a glimpse into the years that are treasured as a pivotal time in American history, the most comprehensive of which will take place on Sat., Nov. 16 at Embassy Suites Hotel, Spa & Conference Center in San Marcos. A preview showing of a limited portion of the collection will take place at Texas State University’s Alkek Library from Oct. 1 – Nov. 9 and a public viewing of the photography portion from the collection will take place on Sun., Nov. 17.
The Camelot Reception and Full Exhibit on Nov. 16 will feature nearly 80 images, as well as more than 30 unique artifacts and memorabilia and from the private collection of Frank Harvey of Houston. Many of the images, captured by JFK’s personal photographer, Jacques Lowe, have never been viewed by the public.
In addition, The Camelot Reception will offer an evening of Kennedy-era- inspired hors d’oeuvres and specialty cocktails, keynote speakers and an opportunity to view the rarest items of Harvey’s extensive collection, including the lead car from JFK’s inaugural parade. A unique silent auction will include a variety of truly one-of-a-kind Kennedy-centric items, as well as a trip for two to Rwanda personally guided by True Vineyard Founder and Executive Director, Diana Wiley.
The Oct. 1 – Nov. 9 preview limited showing at Texas State University’s Alkek Library prior to the event will prominently feature Lyndon Baines Johnson, JFK’s Vice President, and alumnus of the school.
The final opportunity to view the collection will take place on Sun., Nov. 17 via a public viewing of the photography portion of the exhibit from the Camelot Reception. Admission to the viewing is $25 per person.
One of the enduring legacies of the Kennedy presidency is the effort to find mutual understanding between Americans and people of other nations and cultures. True Vineyard Ministries’ work in Rwanda is the embodiment of the Kennedy philosophy living on half-a-century after his death.

About True Vineyard Ministries
True Vineyard Ministries is a non-profit organization based in San Marcos, Texas that uses social business models that provide work-based solutions to poverty-stricken communities in Rwanda. They achieve this goal by reaching out to widows who were left behind in the tragic 100-day genocide in 1994, where nearly one million Rwandans were murdered. Some of the women are rape survivors, suffering from HIV/AIDS and all are mothers to multiple children. San Marcos resident Diana Wiley developed a long-term mission program with a rural hospital in Mozambique, after she was touched by a testimony from the hospital’s administrator who shared a glimpse of the HIV/AIDS epidemic with Wiley’s church. In 2005, after volunteering with the hospital for 3 years, Wiley began to learn more about the role the 1994 Genocide had played in the AIDS epidemic in Rwanda. In 2007, Wiley launched the female-based, Christ-centered ministry known as True Vineyard Ministries. One of the ways the ministry helps to suppress Rwandans’ hunger and lack of means for basic necessities is through its Handspun Hope Program, which provides resources to help women produce organically dyed yarn from the merino sheep they raise. True Vineyard also sells popular jewelry, textile accessories and other hand-made items in The Vineyard Marketplace, a fair trade African boutique that is located at 317 W. San Antonio Street in San Marcos.
