CTMC TO HOST 5TH ANNUAL FREE DIABETES DIALOGUE DAY
 
SAN MARCOS, TX – More than 25 million children and adults in the United States are living with diabetes, according to the American Diabetes Association. That’s 8.3 percent of the population. Of these, 7 million people have not been diagnosed, and 79 million others have pre-diabetes.
 
Diabetes can cause problems with the blood vessels, eyes, kidneys, heart and more. Here in Central Texas, diabetes is emerging as a major health concern. Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) is again raising diabetes awareness and helping those with the disease and/or ones who love and care for them with its fifth annual Diabetes Dialogue Day. The event is free to the community and will take place on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the CTMC Community Classroom. Space is limited, so those interested in attending should reserve their spot by calling (512) 753-3818, or by visiting ctmc.org and clicking on “Classes and Events.”

A panel discussion will provide a multidisciplinary approach to diabetes from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. The speakers will include:

Additionally, a free glucose screening and diabetes risk assessments are available on the first Wednesday of each month from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. in the CTMC Main Lobby. The next opportunity will take place on Nov. 6.

About CTMC 
The hospital, which originated in 1923 as Hays County Soldiers, Sailors and Marines Memorial Hospital, was restructured in 1960. The present facility was opened at its current Wonder World Drive location in 1983.
