Community encouraged to attend National Day of Prayer activities

COMMUNITY ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER ACTIVITIES
 
SAN MARCOS, TX – Since signed into law in 1952, Americans across the country have celebrated the National Day of Prayer, which encourages people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It is observed annually on the first Thursday in May.
 
This year, Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC), former San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz and the San Marcos Ministerial Association will again join forces to host two National Day of Prayer (NDP) events. The community is invited to attend a pre-NDP prayer and worship service on Wednesday, May 1 at 7 p.m. at the San Marcos Activity Center, located at 501 E. Hopkins Street. The following morning on May 2, the annual San Marcos prayer breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. at the San Marcos Conference Center, located at 1001 E. McCarty Lane.
 
“CTMC is happy to offer its support for this year’s prayer event in observance of the National Day of Prayer,” CTMC CEO/President Sam Huenergardt said. “The event is true to who we are, as it fits our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.”
 
At both of this year’s events, the public will unite with area clergy, elected officials and community leaders for prayer focused on church, family, government, education, military, business and media/arts.
 
“We are blessed to live in a country where we can gather together and pray,” Narvaiz said. “On this annual observance, we come together as a community to seek forgiveness, praise God and ask for intercession for the United States and its people.”

The hospital, which originated in 1923 as Hays County Soldiers, Sailors and Marines Memorial Hospital, was restructured in 1960.
