Reductive/Subtractive Drawing

Saturday March 29 & April 5, 2-6 PM
“Reductive” drawing starts by covering an entire sheet with charcoal. Using different type erasers, the student removes elements that belong in the finished piece. It's a different style of drawing that’s very effective. Don't worry, if you erase too much, you can always apply more charcoal. In this class the student learns to control the eraser edge, producing the lines needed to create the drawing.
No previous experience necessary. Instructed by San Antonio artist James Saldivar, James views reductive drawing as comparable to living life He states, "We create a lot of background in our life. How wonderful it would be to use an eraser to take out those parts that didn’t work, are too dark, or smear our lives, leaving the best image we can create." | Apr 12 Grand Opening of Literacy Center in Buda H-E-B |
| Buda, TX – H-E-B announces the Grand Opening of a new Literacy Center in the Buda store. As part of H-E-B’s Read 3 Literacy Campaign, Literacy Centers have been opened in 16 stores across Texas, the latest one of them right here in Buda. This means a much larger supply of children’s books as well as regular Story Times, author readings and book signings, a summer reading program, and other child centered events.
Buda’s Literacy Center will be launched with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday April 12th at 10:00 am, followed by Story Time with local author, Clint Greenleaf, at 11:00 am. Mr. Greenleaf will be reading his book Give, Save, Spend with the Three Little Pigs, and signing copies which will be available for purchase at H-E-B.
The Literacy Center is here for the entire community and we would like to encourage everyone to participate. Bring a child to Story Time, volunteer to read, assist with activities, or just come to join in an event.
